DuMoulin Black LLP is very pleased to welcome Joanna Cameron to the team. Joanna brings over 20 years of experience in public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and other financing transactions. Joanna represents clients in all stages of development in the technology, retail, mining, forestry and shipping industries, and has been recognized by various publications for her work in private practice and as in-house counsel.

University of British Columbia Awards Prizes Sponsored by DuMoulin Black

Throughout the academic term, DuMoulin Black sponsors awards to university students in British Columbia to recognize their noteworthy academic performance. The latest honours were granted in July 2018.

Ian Morrison and Kurtis Harms, both third year law students at the University of British Columbia were awarded the DuMoulin Black LLP Prize in Corporate Transactions, which is given to students with the highest grades in the Corporate Transactions course.

Courtney Campbell, another third year University of British Columbia law student received the DuMoulin Black LLP Prize in Business Law. This is awarded to the student that achieved the highest overall standing in the Faculty of Law’s Business Law Concentration program.

DuMoulin Black is pleased to congratulate Ian, Kurtis and Courtney and wish them the best in their future endeavors and continued studies.

DB Sponsors TMX Golf Tournament

DuMoulin Black LLP is a proud sponsor of the 7th Annual TMX Charity Golf Classic, supporting important causes in our community.

This year, all proceeds will go towards two charities- Room to Read and The Cerebral Palsy Association of BC (CPABC). Room to Read is a global nonprofit group seeking to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. CPABC is an organization dedicated to creating “Life Without Limits” for people with disabilities, and recognized leader in providing information and support for those living in Cerebral Palsy in the province.

Our lawyers typically work as a team on diverse transactions and files for our many clients. We provide lawyers with a high level of responsibility and the opportunity to grow their practice in a fast-paced, challenging and rewarding environment.

Our associates receive ample support from our partners, staff and technology systems, and are encouraged to develop their own legal practice as well as support the firm’s existing clients.

Student Program

We are looking for one exceptional candidate to join us each summer. Our hope is that person will join us through their Articles, become an associate and one day our partner.

That person will:

• Share our values.
• Have achieved academic success that demonstrates a commitment to excellence.
• Be personable and professional.

We adhere to the Vancouver Bar Association recruitment guidelines and timelines for hiring. Applications should include a brief cover letter, a resume and copies of both undergraduate and law school transcripts in a single PDF file, sent to the attention of Natalie Leon, COO, by email (nleon@dumoulinblack.com) or through Allard Careers and Events (ACE). Reference letters are welcomed but not necessary.

In 2019 we will participate in UBC On-Campus Interviews. Students who are granted interview will be called on Call Day.

Our Student Program
During your summer with us, you will be supported by a mentor, who will be responsible for ensuring you receive appropriate training and feedback, and that you are involved in a broad range of interesting and challenging work.

You will:

• Actively participate in at least one transaction in our core practice areas, ideally from beginning to end.
• Attend in-house lunch and learns on topics relevant to our lawyers.
• Work closely with both our associates and our partners.
• Meet our clients.
• Be equipped with innovative technology.
• Have fun! We host occasional in-house socials and one or two external social functions each summer.


We offer our students and associates compensation at the top end of the Vancouver market. In addition, we contribute $6,500 towards 3rd year tuition to students who return for Articles.
